Welding area: more modern, more efficient, cleaner
Welding department: Hello, it’s me – the new welding department in Schwerin.
Yes, you read that right. I’m speaking up, because a lot has happened in my department. And you can not only see it, you can feel it. In every work step. In every component. And in every result.
My former self?
I was… let’s say: functional, but chaotic.
Three stations – welding, grinding, blasting/pickling – were separated from each other. Heavy parts were carried back and forth, my coworkers had to master every step of the process and I was loud, dusty and frankly – overwhelmed.
The new me?
Much clearer. Much more efficient. Much quieter.
I was completely restructured.
Walls were moved, false ceilings were installed, I got more space, cleaner paths and a modern environment. The extraction systems were also rethought, outside the work booths: dust, odors, negative pressure – everything is better controlled. I now sound less like a runway and more like a well-thought-out production area.
My favorite update? Specialization.
At last, not everyone has to do everything.
I now have clearly defined areas – for welding and for finishing. This makes the work more precise, faster and more relaxed. And yes: the quality is measurably better.
The blasting cabinet? Also part of my makeover.
It is now larger, accessible from both sides and can finally accommodate the “big chunks” that previously had to be sent to external service providers.
In addition, I can now accommodate much larger parts – because the cabin has been extended so that the two access points (“the two holes”) are optimally utilized. As a result, far fewer parts are sent for external processing than before.
This saves handling, time and costs – and I’m really proud of it.
Another advantage: I work wirelessly.
All tools now work with a battery – no more tangled cables, no tripping, much more freedom of movement.
And order? I’m really good at it now.
New 5S walls provide an overview, clear processes and clearly defined places for each tool. Old, unused tools have been systematically removed – I am much tidier than before.
And the best thing is:
I wasn’t planned on the drawing board, but together with the people who work with me every day.
With 3D data from the hall, lots of experience and even more practical knowledge.
And although I’ve learned so much: I will probably never be completely finished.
Because the ideas continue to grow – and I develop with them.
What my customers get out of it:
- Shorter throughput times
- Reduced handling
- Less noise and more cleanliness
- Stable quality
- Real cost and time benefits
- Significantly less external processing
- Optimized, modern workstations
I’m ready for complex welding assemblies, challenging projects and anything else that comes my way.
I’m the new welding division of BVS Systemtechnik Schwerin – and I can finally show what I’m made of.
